Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I seek therapy now?

Great question. As you have taken this first step to seek support and insight into your life, you already have decided that therapy is an option for you. Life can be challenging at times, and depending on where we are emotionally, it can impact our decision making and reactions to our personal experiences. Therapy helps you sort out your why. Therapy can also help you understand where you are and how your decisions have come to fruition. Speaking with family and friends, while beneficial, offer some support, therapy allows you to explore your options with the benefit of a neutral and confidential party.

What if we are not a good fit?

As a therapist, I understand that fit is key to your comfort and ability to share some of your deepest, most confidential thoughts. That is fair. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet with me for a free 20-minute consultation, the assessment period, approximately 2 sessions, also offers you more insight into my style and your comfortability.

If you conclude that I am not the right fit, please feel free to discuss this with me. We can talk about your options, and I would be happy to share alternate referrals for you.

What if I need a prescription for medication?

I do not offer psychiatric services for medication management. However, I do offer a network of organizations and private practice psychiatric providers who you can be referred to address your psychiatric needs. Many of my preferred psychiatric providers are persons with whom I have worked closely with throughout my career. I am happy to share those referrals with you and help get you started on your psychiatric journey.

What insurance do you accept?

Presently I accept both Cigna and Aetna for health insurance. I also accept both flexible spending (FSA) and health saving (HSA) accounts. Finally, I encourage everyone to confirm their out-of-network (OON) benefits, which may reimburse you for your treatment participation. Mariah, my beloved, Coding and Insurance Specialist is happy to assist in ensuring that you are properly covered for therapy services.
